Pakenham & Local Area

Pakenham has a village pub and village stores both approx half mile from Fen House.

The windmill is just three quarters mile down the road and the watermill 1 mile from the property. A little further on from the watermill is the Micklemere bird reserve.

There is also a circular walk around the village of five miles, which can be split into 5 very
pleasant shorter walks.

Bury St. Edmunds

We are just 5 miles from Britain's best loved market town, nestled in the heart of West Suffolk. A town steeped in history, where in 1214 the English barons met to swear the oath which led to King John accepting the Magna Carta. The Buttermarket and Cornhill are home to a flourishing twice weekly market. The recently renovated Theatre Royal is the best surviving example of a regency theatre in the UK.

Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds. Award winning gardens in the heart of the town, complete with aviary, squirrels, geese and childrens play area.

Bressingham Gardens. Ride through the glorious gardens on one of four working railways or visit the steam engines including the working Victorian carousel.
